While doing some shows in South America, Nirvana taped some more demos for their next album, which was to become In Utero. At these shows, along with these demo sessions, Kurt and the band sounded tired and pretty ragged. "Heart-Shaped Box," "Milk It," "Moist Vagina," "Seasons in the Sun," "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die" and "The Other Improv" were released officially on With The Lights Out. "Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flows Through the Strip" was a bonus track on European versions of In Utero. "Dave's Meat Song" is just Dave and Kurt singing the word 'meat' over a Dave recording of Swedish death-metal Unleashed's "Onward into Countless Battles." "It's Closing Soon" is the only known collaboration between Courtney and Kurt. Other songs between them may have been recorded, but have not turned up anywhere.

Both "Dave Solo" and "Lullaby" are unknown and unheard songs.

The video was shot in Kurt's garage. MTV banned it for it's inclusion of punk magazine titles.

Nirvana's Unplugged is easily the best in the MTV show's history. The band played shorts jams on many songs, including "Sweet Home Alabama," "Negative Creep," "Sliver," "In Bloom," "Scentless Apprentice," and "Serve The Servants." These jams as well as "Oh Me" and "Plateau" were not aired, although an unedited video version of this show is now on DVD. "Oh Me," "Plateau" and "Lake of Fire" were Meat Puppet songs, played with two of the Meat Puppets as guests.

Robert Lang Studio Sessions (January 30, 1994)
Jam
You Know You're Right
Jam After Dinner
This was the third day of the sessions, but the only one where Kurt showed up. The two previous days Krist and Dave mostly worked on Dave's songs (some of which became Foo Fighter tunes.) "You Know You're Right" was released officially on the Nirvana best-of album. "Jam" was used in the DVD portion of the With The Lights Out box set, as incidental music.

Do Re Mi Home Demo (1994)
Do Re Mi
Kurt recorded "Do Re Mi" in demo form at least 3 times, each differently. The only one that has seen the light of day is an acoustic version that was released on With The Lights Out. This is considered the last Nirvana song, considering Pat Smeer was included on the demos.

Nulle Part Alleurs Television Taping (February 4, 1994)
Rape Me
Pennyroyal Tea
Drain You
Nulle Part Alleurs is a French television show. The band wore matching suits and skinny ties! It was lucky that Pat Smeer was second guitarist, considering during "Drain You," Kurt's guitar completely craps out. He threw it down on the ground and finished the song without it.

Tunnel Television Taping (February 6, 1994)
Serve the Servants
Dumb
An Italian tv show is Nirvana's last televsion appearance. It's dissapointing. The band are showed a lack of respect by the hosts and they play pretty poorly.

Radio Friendly Unit Shifter

Rape Me
Territorial Pissings
The Man who Sold the World
All Apologies
On a Plain

Heart-Shaped Box
Nirvana's last show ever had a power outage in the middle of "Come As You Are," hence it being played twice. Kurt was losing his voice during the show. From what I've seen/heard, this is as dissapointing a last show as the Tunnel was for their last television appearance...

This chronology is in no way complete, and is based on my own stash of Nirvana recordings (although I've got tons more live stuff than just what's on these few pages.) Material I have in one form or another is in Gold. Material I'm missing is in white.
