Tonight at Books-A-Million i made the end of the night announcement that we were closing... too bad it was the 4th of july, and no customers were there to hear my one and only time making the end-of-the-day announcements. on my way home i saw something white and fluffy in the field i was crossing. i thought at first that it was some kind of trash moving in the wind, then i noticed it was WALKING, so i thought it was some white, little dog. to my surprise as i got closer, i noticed it was a skunk (mostly white instead of black.) needless to say i gave it wide berth as i passed.

so my last blog was a little wrong. tonight was my second and last time doing the end-of-the-night announcement (Again i only did it once tonight.) I only have 2 days left at Books-A-Million, and i can't wait to be done with it!

so tonight was my last night as the magazine specialist at Books-A-Million. It was pretty boring, not many magazine stuff to do, and little shipment to put out. anyways it was funny, because things come full circle. my first or second day on the job there, an older man walked passed me and the magazine guy who was training me to take over his job, and farted. it was pretty funny and hard to hold in our laughter. anyways, tonight, another man - with black socks mind you - was looking at the magazines in the lower section of the business area and farted as i walked passed him. a bittersweet toot.
tomorrow is the finish-up-in-harrisonburg day for me. got some bills to pay and errands to run. maybe even pack up a little, then i expect to leave here on saturday. woo hoo!

so i finally moved away from Harrisonburg ...for good. i know i moved out in december of last year, thinking i'd never come back, but the secretagents called (even though we ended up splitting up.) stan got to harrisonburg on friday night and hung out with sarah, while i packed up. the whole day today i cleaned my bathroom and bedroom. luckily there wasn't alot to pack up, although i did end up throwing away my refrigerater - which my mom is pissed about, but oh well.
the drive home was pretty cool, got to listen to my newest mix cd. on prince william parkway there was a huge traffic backup. apparently there was a country concert happening at the nissan pavillion - we saw alot of cowboy hats on drivers. it feels good to be gone from harrisonburg for the most part, but i'm back in my mom's house, which isn't necessarily THAT much cooler. we'll see where Stever goes from here!

Who watches the Watchmen [Jul. 13th, 2005|4:00 am]

Over the weekend on Sunday, allison came over. I havent seen her in months and it was fun to hang out with her again. I met her boyfriend greg, and he seems like a nice enough guy. we went to the mall and had some food, then walked around. we met up with my family, and stan's girlfriend sarah, and all saw "war of the worlds." it was visually stunning and very intense, but not a 'fun' movie.
the next night toine came over after work. he's got a george clooney haircut and dresses up in a shirt, tie and slacks for work now. pretty big change from the last time i saw him. anyways we did our usual hanging out, playing nintendo 64 and watching a movie, and just bumming around. toine said he was not tired and wouldn't fall asleep to the movie - dont worry folks. he was asleep within 20 minutes.
I beat 2 realy old computer games i had lying around the house ('the journeyman project' and 'the 7th guest'). there's not much to do with nobody here and no car to go anywhere for the next week.

I just finished reading Alan Moore & Dave Gibbon's 'Watchmen.' There is alot of stuff i noticed this time (this is officially my third time through it.) i went to a cool website that analyzes it and points out things most people would normally miss. i can't believe how much detail went into this comic, both in motifs, hidden messages, character development and plot - it's really amazing. i read some information on a movie being made about it. apparently it should be out within a year - hopefully it's better than the comic junk-movies that are ubiquitous right now. i'm crossing my fingers!

liesel: I kept trying to call you while I was at the beach but it always said it was busy. What's with that?! Anyways, I might have to bum some money off of you to go to KD. Are we still on for the 20th? Your lover and friend, Liesel Eby (said the way Stan does)

tonight i hung out with my old pal brian dudley. i havent really seen him in over 3 years, although before then we were really good friends. we roomed together on band trips, and even spent those long rides in the same aisle. anyways it was weirdly comfortable hanging out with him. we jumped back into our old friendships, although some things have changed. but it was nice
we went out to eat at TGIFridays, where the waitress didnt know what was going on. she gave us our menus and utensils, and then walked off. we found a table and ordered some food and some pretty girly drinks (brian had a huge margarita, i had my usual strawberry daquari.) we talked about old stuff, hitting subjects like old friends, where they are now, and of course, high school band. on the way home we stopped and brian got some ice cream at the dairy queen.
once we got back home, the old yearbooks were brought out. toine stopped by to pick up his phone charger that he left here, and he and i and brian just remebered old times. toine left, and brian stayed around a little longer. i burned him a nirvana "best of" and showed him some cool and funny videos i have on my computer.
i hope we'll become good friends again like how we used to be. i dont see any reason why we wouldnt. it's kinda cool, re-meeting old friends i tried to watch the Empire Strikes Back tonight, but the vhs tape its on (which is ancient) broke and i had to literally cut it out of the machine. oh well, i guess i'll just borrow those crappy re-visited DVDs...

Pink 50th Beach Weekend (Remix) [Single Edit] [Jul. 18th, 2005|11:08 pm]

this weekend was a big adventure. i was up for 30 hours straight, got 3 hours of sleep in a van, then was up for a few more hours. anyway this is how it went: a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
saturday i went over to the Pink Sock, which is the apartment being shared by stan, brandon jones, and a dead carcass in the walls of the kitchen. it's an old place, so there's no air conditioning, and right now stan and brandon have it pretty sparse. but it seems cool. stan and i got together to goto a restaurant for my dad's 50th birthday surprise dinner. both shannon and ric were there (ric brought his girlfriend rachel) and my aunt betsy was there. it was fun, and dad was surprised. stan and i got him the seinfeld season 4 dvd set, and a card made from the cover of Car & Driver's 50th anniversary. Interestingly enough, it is of the month of July, and has a car on the cover called a Shelby which is my dad's name.

after dinner stan and i went back to the Pink Sock (don't ask why it's called that!) and toine showed up. we played some Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64 on brandon's nintendo 64, and then i was taken to toine's place. the next day we were getting up early to goto the beach. i never got up for that trip cuz i never went to bed.
yup that's right, i couldnt fall alseep. i even laid there on the couch for 3 and a half hours trying to. so we got up and got into the van. toine's friend victor was coming with us and the three of us left to pick up my friend tim. the trip was almost 3 hours, but it was fun with alot of chatting and making fun going on. we stopped at a wendy's about an hour away from ocean city. when we got there, victor called his wife, mary, who was already there. we decided to hang out with her and her friends at the beach, since we were going there anyway. her friends were nice, but most of the time me, tim, and toine stayed together, with victor occaisionally joining us. we buried toine (he started complaining) and tim (he didnt complain) in the sand, but didnt make them into anything, unlike last time when me, tim and toine went, back in june of 2002 (see the picture at the top of this entry!!!!)
after hanging out at the beach, we changed and went to the boardwalk to find some food. victor's wife and her friends came along. we couldn't find anything so left, after about 20 minutes, to drive back to a restaurant we saw. it was a nice dinner, and we got to know the people a little better. freakily enough, the wendy's owner was there. he came out after recognizing us and talked to us!
we went by the apartment mary and her friends were staying at to drop them off. i was expecting us to go back to the boardwalk we only spent 20 minutes at, and it was only 7 pm - PRIME TIME. this was when the trap was sprung. victor said mary had to work early the next morning and was coming home with us. and we were leaving NOW. i was super pissed, mostly because i wasn't told until now. if i was told earlier, i would have changed my whole time in ocean city - i woulda dropped off victor and went straight to the boardwalk with tim and toine. toine and tim tried to calm me down, but i knew they were mad also (i found this to be true later.) the funny thing is, this must have been planned. mary's friends were staying there a few days later, and if she had to work the next day her only way home was our rental car. toine said he didnt even know until that day, also. what a dick move. so the trip turned drastically from "toine, tim, steve and victor's boys day" to "the victor and mary show." ugh. i vow never to go on a trip with married people unless i know these people and they are cool!

brittany: Not all married people are like that, but still boo on Victor and Mary!

me and my sleeing schedules [Jul. 30th, 2005|5:24 am]

so of course i'm on a horrible sleep schedule. surprise, surprise. the other "day" , on thursday, i went to sleep at noon, and got up at 9 pm. then toine came over and we played some old school nintendo 64. he finally fell asleep and i stayed up working on demos. luckily howard stern came on at 6 am that friday morning, so i wasn't dead bored. toine got up eventually and we drove to a guitar store called foxes music out in arlington. we drove all the way out to that one because it's the only one i know that carries a mustang bass, the bass i'll probably purchase next. well they had one there, but it was a god awful reddish-orange color. but it sounded and felt awesome! i also tried out a jag-stang, which is a guitar created by kurt cobain. it was pretty crappy, but that's what i was expecting based on what i've read about it. oh well, even kurt didn't like the finished product.
toine and i then went to get some food and he dropped me off at his place... where i spent the next 9 hours while he was at work. his ingenious idea was for me to wait for the cableguy so he wouldnt have to take a day off from work. luckily, instead of being on a good schedule, it completely knocked me back off. anyways, toine has cable now and internet. fun trade, huh?
